The XII International Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Conference, Quality, Honesty and Beauty in Science and Technology Communication, held in Florence from 18th to 20th April 2012, was greeted by a remarkable success.
The scientific programme of the conference collected 469 speeches, held by scientists and science communicators, university researchers and representatives of institutions. More than 650 participants coming from five continents and involved in scientific and technological research and communication met to discuss and to get updates on science journalism, science communication research, science in society research, science museums and communication activities by research institutions.
Several meetings and sessions involved members of Observa’s Scientific Committee: Martin W. Bauer, Massimiano Bucchi, Giuseppe Pellegrini, Giuseppe Testa and Brian Trench.
Plenary sessions were delivered by key international experts: Piero Angela (RAI, Italian public Tv), Martin W. Bauer (LSE, editor of journal Public Understanding of Science), Rick Borchelt (US National Cancer Institute), Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento), Ilaria Capua (OIE-FAO and IZSVe), John Durant (MIT Museum of Science), Edna Einsiedel (University of Calgary), Felice Frankel (MIT), Bruce V. Lewenstein (Cornell University), Andrew Pleasant (Canyon Ranch Institute), Semir Zeki (University College London).
