Observa – Science in Society is a non-profit association. In line with its mission to offer a balanced and independent viewpoint on the debate regarding the relationship between science and society, Observa does not depend upon private, or public, institutions. Members’ support, together with funded projects and donations, results thus necessary for the implementation of the centre’s research activities.
Membership to the association, in quality of supporting member, is free and of annual validity. It gives the opportunity to participate in Observa’s public initiatives and internal training seminars; to receive the publications edited by the association during the year; to keep informed upon new events through the periodical newsletter; to access all the research material dedicated to the members and available on the website www.observa.it/observa/observa
Amongst this year’s novelties dedicated to Observa’s supporting members, the fifth edition of Science and Society Facts and Figures, edited for the first time by Il Mulino, which encloses a special section: Italians, Science and the Environment. Second report on science, technology and public opinion in Italy, a new monitor on public orientations towards environmental issues, from waste disposal to eco-sustainability; a set of thematic in-depth investigations on the relationships between science and citizenry in Europe, which will be available during the course of the year on the website; and a new cycle of seminars which will be opened on the 12th of January, 2009.
Further, members will be able to book a reserved seat for the conferences during the third edition of Science and Society Meet in Architecture, which will be held in April (16-19) 2009 in the stunning Palladian context of Villa Caldogno (VI).
All the membership terms and conditions are published on the Members’ Page. The membership fee has annual validity and for 2009 corresponds to €20 (€16 for university and PhD students).
We would be pleased to welcome you amongst our supporting members.
