STS Italia, the Italian Society for Social Studies on Science and Technology, is a newborn non-profit association that aims to promote social studies on science and technology in Italy and Europe. STS Italia Mission is to become a scientific reference for anyone interested in science- and technology social studies, science communication, as well as social impact and utilization of technologies. The focus is on relationships between scientific, technological and social stakeholders.
First public date for STS Italia is a National Conference “Innovation between society and tecno-science: research perspectives and experiences”, organised in Cagliari on the 9th and 10th of June. Main theme is: Invited speakers are, among others, Brian Wynne (Lancaster University), Martin Bauer, (London School of Economics) Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento), Susan Leigh Star e Geoffrey Bowker (Center for Science, Technology and Society, University of Santa Clara)
