{"id":33208,"date":"2009-02-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.observa.it\/time-for-nano\/"},"modified":"2024-05-07T09:41:06","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T09:41:06","slug":"time-for-nano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.observa.it\/en\/time-for-nano\/","title":{"rendered":"TIME for NANO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.observa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/2009_TimeforNano_big.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3098 alignright\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"2009_TimeforNano_big\" src=\"https:\/\/www.observa.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/2009_TimeforNano_big.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"110\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>The TIME for NANO Project aims at engaging the general public, with a special attention to young people, on benefits and risks related to nanoscale research, engineering and technology, through specific <strong>informal education products<\/strong>, namely the <strong>nano-kit<\/strong> and the organisation of a <strong>web contest<\/strong> each year that will be the basis for the realisation of events and debates for the public and collecting opinions and feedbacks from the participants.<\/p>\n<p>The products will use an inquiry-based learning approach, specifically developed in <strong>science centres\/museums<\/strong>, where people understand by doing.<\/p>\n<p>The nano-kit could contain e.g. small exhibits, nano-objects and materials, scripts for experiments and role\/team game cards. It is a tool for stimulating the participation of youngsters in the <strong>nano-olympics<\/strong> and for engaging in debate scientists, stakeholders and the public in general.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/timefornano.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>web platform<\/em><\/a> will be a resource centre and an attractor for the whole community of N&amp;N communicators, through its contents (continuous addition of new information etc), its innovative tools (web contest) and the artistic approach, the online feedback collection.<\/p>\n<p>A great added value of the project is that of \u201cgrowing\u201d a community of people engaged in N&amp;N communication, through the realisation of <strong>training courses<\/strong> in each of the participating Science Centres (at national level) and by Ecsite (at European level) intended to reach a number of at least 450 multipliers (experts working in outreach and education efforts), carefully chosen among three main groups: explainers in science centres and PhD students in science communication; teachers from primary and high schools.<\/p>\n<p>The public participation to the web-contest is ensured by the organisation of many events in science centres of 9 Countries each year: launch event, nano days, final event with award prizes, intended as occasions for informing\/educating, on one hand, and for engaging youngsters, collecting perceptions and opinions, on the other.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium include 13 partner and is coordinated by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondazioneidis.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fondazione Idis Citt\u00e0 della Scienza<\/a> (Italy). The other partners are: Observa (Italy), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecsite.net\/new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ecsite<\/a> (Belgium), BridA (Slovenia), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cienciaviva.pt\/home\/index.asp?accao=changelang?=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ci\u00eancia Viva<\/a> (Portugal), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exponano.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CCSTI La Casemate<\/a> (France), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itu.edu.tr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TSCF<\/a> (Turkey), Technopolis (Belgium), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pw.edu.pl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Politechnika Warszawska<\/a> (Poland), Heureka (Finland), Ecsite UK (United Kingdom), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deutsches-museum.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deutsches Museum<\/a> (Germany), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cuen.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CUEN<\/a> (Italy).<\/p>\n<p>Observa&#8217;s role in the project will be to monitor the activities and preparing <strong>assessment tools<\/strong> for the collection of information concerning the process of implementation and results of initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><em>The image reproduces a nanoparticle.
