The Symposium 2013 of Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) and the Science Communicators Association of New Zealand (SCANZ) will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 21-23 February 2013.
The Symposium is entitled: Disasters – communicating in the crisis and aftermath. It will cover a wide range of topics, including climate change, and is designed to appeal to attendees from around the globe.
The speaking line-up includes Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento), Ren Fujun (China Research Institute for Science Popularization – CRISP), Giuseppe Pellegrini (Observa Science in Society), Li Xiuju (CRISP), Mark Quigley (University of Canterbury), NZ’s leading political commentator Colin James and many more.
One keynote speaker is Dr Satoko Oki (Tokyo University), a seismologist that, two years after the devastating earthquakes that struck Christchurch and Japan, will present her insights and learnings concerning the communication of disaster science.
