Observa plans, supervises and evaluates initiatives aimed at citizens involvement in science and technology issues.

It conducts studies of public perception and media representation of science and technology related issues and institutions.

It offers training activities on science in society issues, science communication and dialogue with citizens, aimed at research institutions and other bodies active in the fields of technology, health and the environment.

Observa organises seminars and debates, it publishese surveys and research reports on its webstite and it also promotes exclusive meetings between science and art by means of the festivals Science and Society meet in Architecture and A Regola d’Arte.

Science in Society Monitor: since 2002, it has been the first regular survey monitoring trends and changes in Italian public opinion about scientific research and technological innovation.

Science in Society Facts and Figures: published since 2005, it provides, in a compact and accessible format, key data and information on the state and development of research and innovation in contemporary societies.

Science in the Media Monitor: it is the first monitor on public communication of science and technology in Italy, that systematically collects, stores, and analyzes the coverage of science and technology issues in the Italian media.

Research projects: national and international surveys, researches and events which both meet Observa’s institutional targets and satisfy specific demands advanced either by organisations, institutions or research networks.
